Terry has been in the retirement plan industry for over 36 years. He is responsible for overseeing
the operation of the firm as well as the overall marketing and communication strategy. Terry has
been involved in the installation of over 3,000 retirement plans during his career and is widely
regarded as an expert in the field. He has an extensive background in the multiple employer
retirement plan field, having over 25 years of experience in this highly specialized area.
Terry spent over ten successful years as a retirement plan wholesaler for Manulife Financial (now marketed as John Hancock) in Florida. He was a member of the Manulife Product Design committee in the early 1990's and was instrumental in the development of one of the most successful products ever introduced in the small to mid-sized retirement plan market. He was recognized numerous times by Manulife Financial for his sales efforts during his career with them. He held National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) Series 6, 7, 24 and 63 licenses during his retirement plan sales career.
Terry completed the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) program from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado in 1988. He earned the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania shortly thereafter.
He was awarded the prestigious Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA) designation from the Center for Fiduciary Studies in 2009. The Center is associated with the Center for Executive Education at the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed all of the requirements for this certification at the Wharton School of Business in San Francisco, California.
He has also been designated as an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA), thereby qualifying him to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service on certain retirement plan issues as outlined under the U.S. Treasury Department Circular 230.
He attended Canisius College in Buffalo, New York and is active in their Alumni activities in Florida. He is also a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity.
He is a Past President of the Florida West Coast Employee Benefits Council, a member of the Tampa Pension Council, and a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA), where he earned the Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) designation. Terry is also a Certified Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS), a certification that is awarded by The College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.
He has been nominated to serve on the U.S. Department of Labor's ERISA Advisory Council and was also nominated in the 401kWire.com survey of the 401(k) Industry's Most Influential Individuals annually since 2008. Terry provided expert testimony to the ERISA Advisory Council in Washington, D.C. in August 2014 on the topic "Outsourcing Employee Benefit Plan Services".
He was named one of the 401kWire.com's "300 Most Influential Individuals in the Defined Contribution Industry" for 2010. Terry has spoken before many industry associations - including the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), fi360, PLAN ADVISOR, Center for Due Diligence, the United States Chamber of Commerce and others, and has had several articles published relating to qualified retirement plans. Terry resides in the Tampa Bay area with his family.
